Start with where you live, where you expect to receive treatment and the benefits you need. A useful comparison considers premiums, deductibles, coverage limits, exclusions, provider access and guaranteed lifetime renewability regardless of age or change in medical condition.AccessHMO helps you understand these differences and how a policy fits with insurance you already have. We explain both the benefits and the potential out-of-pocket expenses so you can make an informed decision.
Guaranteed lifetime renewability is an important protection when choosing long-term international health insurance. Under a policy offering this guarantee, reaching an older age or developing a medical condition after coverage begins does not, by itself, prevent you from renewing, provided you meet the policy’s contractual requirements. When comparing plans from Cigna Global, Allianz Care, AXA Global Healthcare and Bupa Global, AccessHMO gives particular attention to lifetime renewability and protection against losing coverage because your health changes. The exact guarantee depends on the product and issuing insurer; we explain the specific renewal provisions before you apply. This matters because developing a medical condition can make switching insurers more difficult. Lifetime renewability does not mean fixed premiums, unlimited benefits or removal of existing exclusions. Premiums can change, and continued coverage remains subject to payment, eligibility and the policy’s terms.

Our relationship with Cigna and its predecessor organizations spans approximately 35 years. We help clients understand Cigna Global health insurance options, complete applications and navigate coverage questions.AccessHMO is separately owned and operated. The applicable Cigna insurance company issues the policy and determines benefits and claims under its terms.
Yes. We consider suitable options from these international health insurers according to your needs and the products available to you.Our comparison considers benefits, geographical coverage, medical underwriting, renewal provisions, provider access and overall cost. Availability depends on your country of residence, eligibility and the intermediary authorized to arrange the insurance. We explain the relevant differences so you can choose with confidence.
Yes. We can review an existing Cigna Global policy, another international health insurance plan or relevant employer and public health coverage. We consider benefits, deductibles, geographical coverage, renewal terms and any changes in your circumstances. For Medicare-eligible clients, we also consider how their U.S. coverage fits.Sometimes keeping an existing policy is the most suitable outcome, particularly when replacing it could introduce new exclusions or underwriting requirements.
Yes, coverage may be available, depending on the insurer, the condition and medical underwriting. An insurer may cover the condition on standard terms, apply an additional premium or exclusion, or decline an application.AccessHMO can advocate on your behalf during underwriting. For example, we successfully worked with Cigna’s underwriting team to secure a client’s policy with full coverage for a disclosed pre-existing condition, without an exclusion for that condition or any additional premium rating. Each application is assessed individually, so the same outcome cannot be guaranteed.Medical questions can include earlier symptoms, investigations or medical advice, even without a formal diagnosis. Complete disclosures help us present your circumstances accurately to the insurer. We help you understand the written terms offered before you decide whether to proceed.
A deductible is the amount you pay toward eligible expenses before the relevant insurance benefits begin paying. Cost sharing, sometimes called coinsurance, is a percentage of eligible expenses that you pay under the policy.Check what any stated out-of-pocket maximum includes. A limit on cost sharing may exclude your deductible, uncovered treatment and expenses above policy limits. For example, if a policy applies a $500 deductible followed by 20% cost sharing capped at $2,000, your contribution toward a fully eligible $20,000 bill would be $2,500. This illustration assumes no other limits or adjustments.AccessHMO explains how these provisions apply to the specific policy, including whether amounts apply separately to individuals or benefit sections.
Some international health insurance plans offer worldwide coverage, while others exclude the United States or cover a more limited area. The appropriate choice depends on where you live, travel and expect to receive treatment. Limited emergency benefits outside your selected area are different from full coverage there. Provider-network rules can also affect what the insurer pays.We help you check these distinctions before choosing a policy.
International health insurance is generally designed for ongoing healthcare needs while living abroad. Depending on the policy, it can include hospital care, outpatient treatment and other benefits.Travel medical insurance usually covers unexpected illness or injury during a defined trip. It should not be assumed to provide comprehensive ongoing care or the same renewal protections as long-term international health insurance.Trip cancellation and baggage protection are separate benefits and may not be included.
Original Medicare generally does not cover healthcare outside the United States, apart from narrow exceptions involving certain foreign hospital services and qualifying cruise-ship care.It does not provide routine international health insurance for Americans living abroad. AccessHMO can help you consider overseas coverage alongside your Medicare benefits and plans for receiving care in the United States.
Complete our comparison form or contact us to arrange a discussion. To begin, provide your contact details, country of residence, the names and ages of the people to be covered and where you need access to care.We can discuss existing policy details during follow-up. Medical questionnaires and payment information should be provided through the insurer’s designated process.Request a comparison:https://www.accesshmo.com/compare
Certain Medicare Supplement, or Medigap, policies include foreign-travel emergency benefits.Standardized plans C, D, F, G, M and N generally pay 80% of eligible emergency charges after a $250 annual deductible, subject to a $50,000 lifetime limit, when the emergency care begins during the first 60 days of a trip. Some older policies also provide this benefit; state-specific policies can differ. This limited protection is not comprehensive insurance for living abroad. The $50,000 limit applies to this Medigap benefit, not to all Medicare coverage.
Some Medicare Advantage plans provide additional benefits for emergency or urgently needed care during international travel. Coverage limits and reimbursement procedures vary.Enrollment also depends on residence in the plan’s service area. Before moving abroad or taking an extended trip, check your plan’s Evidence of Coverage and notify the insurer.Foreign emergency benefits do not remove the plan’s residency requirements.
That depends on your circumstances, including visits to the United States and whether you expect to return permanently.Dropping or delaying Part B can lead to restricted enrollment opportunities and continuing late-enrollment penalties. Having international health insurance does not automatically protect you from those consequences. We can help you identify the issues to review with Medicare or Social Security before making a change.
You may be able to change your Medigap policy, but acceptance can depend on medical underwriting, protected enrollment opportunities and state rules. If you cancel a policy, you may not be able to obtain the same coverage again. AccessHMO can help you compare options and understand the questions to resolve before replacing existing Medicare Supplement insurance.
These benefits depend on the plan and any optional modules selected. A hospital-focused policy may provide only limited outpatient coverage.Routine consultations, prescription medicines, dental treatment and vision care can have separate limits, exclusions or waiting periods. Emergency dental treatment following an accident is also different from routine dental coverage. We help you check the benefits you expect to use against the policy documents.
Some international health insurance plans offer maternity benefits, subject to eligibility, waiting periods and benefit limits. Cigna Global maternity terms can vary by policy and treatment location.Review routine maternity, pregnancy complications and newborn benefits well before a planned pregnancy. A new policy should not be assumed to cover an existing pregnancy. We can help you identify the applicable conditions and questions to resolve before applying.
Insurance requirements vary by country, nationality and visa or residency category. Eligibility for local public healthcare is a separate matter.AccessHMO can help you consider how private insurance fits with your circumstances, with European insurance services provided through Hamilton Hudson s.r.o. where authorized.Confirm current immigration requirements with the relevant authority or consulate before purchasing coverage. An international policy does not automatically replace any obligation to participate in a local healthcare system.
AccessHMO’s country guides provide practical information about hospitals, clinics and doctors. Your insurer’s provider directory, secure member portal and assistance team can help you identify facilities and confirm network participation. Before planned treatment, check your benefits, the provider’s current participation and any authorization requirements.A listing in a guide does not itself guarantee an appointment, coverage or direct billing.

Some treatments require advance approval, often called preauthorization. Requirements depend on your policy and the treatment involved. Before planned care, contact your insurer to confirm coverage, any approval requirements and payment arrangements. Failure to obtain required approval can affect reimbursement. In an emergency, seek urgent care first and notify your insurer as soon as reasonably possible within the policy’s notification requirements. AccessHMO can help you understand the process, but treatment authorization comes from the insurer.
Direct billing may be available when the insurer and healthcare provider agree to it. Contact the insurer before planned treatment to arrange authorization and payment where possible. If direct billing is unavailable, you may need to pay and submit a reimbursement claim. You remain responsible for applicable deductibles, cost sharing and uncovered expenses.Your insurance ID card identifies your membership; it does not guarantee payment for every treatment.
Medical evacuation and repatriation benefits depend on the policy and may require an optional benefit.Covered transport normally needs to be authorized and arranged by the insurer or its assistance company. We help you review the medical criteria, permitted destinations and limits.Evacuation coverage does not automatically mean a flight home or transport to any hospital you choose.
Seek urgent care through local emergency services first. Contact your insurer or assistance company as soon as reasonably possible and follow the notification deadlines in your policy.Keep itemized invoices, receipts and treatment records, and submit them through the insurer’s designated claims process.AccessHMO can help you understand the next steps and direct questions to the appropriate team. The insurer determines whether the claim is covered and what documentation is required.
Your insurer’s secure member portal or app may provide access to policy documents, insurance ID cards, benefit information, provider searches and claims services. Available functions vary by insurer and product. For Cigna Global, the online Customer Area provides access to policy documents, membership information and claims services.Keep your policy number and insurer’s assistance contact details accessible when traveling. AccessHMO can help direct you to the appropriate member service.
Wait until the replacement insurer has confirmed acceptance, the effective date and the final policy terms, including exclusions and waiting periods.Check your current insurer’s cancellation requirements and arrange the transition to avoid a coverage gap. Consider whether the new policy changes protection for existing medical conditions or long-term renewability.A quotation or submitted application does not mean replacement insurance is already in force.
Medicare drug plans do not cover prescriptions purchased outside the United States. Original Medicare generally does not cover dialysis abroad, except during a qualifying covered foreign inpatient hospital stay.Any additional Medicare Advantage benefit must be checked with the plan.If you need regular medication or treatment, confirm both insurance coverage and practical access before traveling.
Medicare may cover medically necessary services when the doctor is legally permitted to provide them and the ship is in a U.S. port or within six hours of one when treatment occurs. Care farther away generally is not covered.Review your itinerary and any separate cruise travel medical insurance and evacuation benefits before departure.
AccessHMO LLC is based in Miami, Florida, and provides U.S. insurance and Medicare guidance through its licensed U.S. operations.Regulated European insurance services are provided through Hamilton Hudson s.r.o., our licensed European sister company, where authorized. Before you apply, we explain which intermediary and insurance company will handle your coverage.
Advocacy and legislative proposals do not themselves create insurance benefits. AccessHMO supports broader access to Medicare abroad and follows relevant developments.Your coverage decisions should be based on the Medicare rules and policy benefits currently in force. We distinguish proposed changes from benefits that are actually available.
