Our visionary founders began their careers in New York and Florida in 1989 by offering individual and group health insurance.
We have saved our clients millions of dollars, ever since, by offering high-deductible health insurance alternatives to combat ever-rising healthcare costs, while providing concierge access to the finest, board-certified physicians and all licensed hospitals worldwide.
AccessHMO has enjoyed over three decades of privileged partnership with the highest rated pioneers in the travel, health and life insurance industries; Equitable, Travelers, First United American, and Guardian.
In 1992, our leadership were promoted to Guardian’s executive committee where they paved the way for the transition to managed care by establishing the first privately managed, physician-based health maintenance organization in New York, in a partnership with the county medical society and the affiliated physicians and specialists of Mount Sinai Hospital.
Our international roots go back to 2001, when our leadership was invited to Prague by the Czech Ministry of Health to find a solution to the needs of tens of thousands of foreigners or ‘Expats’, in need of access to hospitals and doctors, but were denied access to the national public health insurance system due to fears of adverse selection.
We successfully responded to the challenge by ultimately establishing the region’s first private, HMO-based health insurance company, licensed by the Czech National Bank and dedicated solely to the healthcare needs of foreign residents, in cooperation with the Czech Republic Ministry of Health’s public health insurance company, VZP.
We are proud to have served tens of thousands ever since, via our popular VZPforForeigners and Find-a-Doctor platforms.
Building on that success, the leadership of AccessHMO and it’s active members, together with American Citizens Abroad and other organizations have been lobbying members of congress since 2014, to extend the Medicare program beyond the U.S. boarder, making it easier for Americans over age 65 to obtain the same quality of healthcare without the need to travel back to the more costly U.S. healthcare system when local alternatives are preferred for medical treatment.
Our hard work has yielded results with this recent legislation that is now becoming law, hopefully soon.
